In general, a foreign citizen who wishes to enter the Kingdom of Thailand is required to obtain a Thai visa from a Royal Thai Embassy or a Royal Thai Consulate-General. However, if his/her citizenship is under Thailand Visa Exemption Agreements, they will be exempted from visa requirements when entering Thailand for tourism purposes. They will be allowed to stay in Kingdom of Thailand for a period of not exceeding 30 days in each time and not total over 90 days within six months period. Although, they are not nationals of countries which are exempted from visa requirements, they may apply for visa on arrival in Thailand which will permit them to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 15 days. For a foreign citizen who is not under Thailand Visa Exemption Agreements and could not also obtain Thailand Visa on Arrival. It is sure that he/she must apply for a visa at the Royal Thai Embassy or the Royal Thai Consulate-General in his/her country of residence, or at the Royal Thai Embassy which has jurisdiction over his or her country of residence.
Also, Travellers who are travellling to Thailand from countries which have been declared Yellow Fever Infected Areas. They must acquire an International Health Certificate verifying the receiving of a Yellow Fever vaccination. For list of nationalities who must present the International Health Certificate showing that they have received a Yellow Fever Vaccination, please see the "Health Requirement (Yellow Fever)".
For a foreign citizen who wishes to stay in Thailand more than a month, three months, one year or long term period. Certainly, he/she will have to apply for Thailand Tourist Visa, Thailand Non Immigrant 90 Days Visa or Thailand One Year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant Visa (for business/education/marriage/retirement in Thailand), including Thailand Permanent Residence Visa (will allow a foreign citizen to stay in Thailand without needing to make a visa run and report him/her stay every 90 days). Moreover, for holder a Thailand Non Immigrant 90 Days Visa or Thailand One Year Multiple Entry Non Immigrant Visa, he/she will be allowed to be able to apply for a Thailand Work Permit in case he/she wishes to work inside Kingdom. The following countries are declared as Yellow Fever Infected Zones. They must present the International Health Certificate showing that they have received a Yellow Fever Vaccination. This Health Certificate must be presented to the Immigration Officer upon arrival at the port of entry into Thailand. The traveller who have not been in a Yellow Fever Infected Area within the past six months. They do not required the International Health Certificate.
